A Blow to Democracy in New York

New York City Mayor Bloomberg is expected to announce that he will attempt to repeal the term limit on mayors so he can run a third time. The term limit has been approved by voters twice. Bloomberg contends the city needs him because of the financial crisis. If this were the case, then the current financial crisis could have been avoided through Bloomberg's narcissistic hand.

If he wants to help the economy he should take a role managing the city's finances under a new mayor, who would be elected democratically. Bloomberg once believed in democracy, calling the abolishment of this law "disgusting."
